As shown by many international experiences (Barcelona, Copenhagen, Paris, Lyon, Zurich, etc.), the quality of public space (PS) influences the environmental, economic and social quality of our cities. Among the components that defines the quality of the PS, and in particular among the environmental ones, the soundscape plays a fundamental role: a low quality of the sound landscape negatively affects the quality of the public space and, therefore, the quality of the cities where we live (European Parliament and Council 2002).
The work analyzes some new project and urban regeneration good practices, evaluating the impact of strategies and technological systems on the quality of the soundscape. Based on the comparison between analyzed good practices, a descriptive synoptic outline of innovative technological strategies and devices and of “project recommendations” was drawn up.
