Campi Flegrei are a vast geographical area that extends to the north-west of the city of Naples. The main municipalities that are part of Campi Flegrei are Pozzuoli, Bacoli and Monte di Procida, where over 120,000 inhabitants live on a territory of 60 Kmq. A territory with a tourist vocation, strongly anthropized by man from road and railway infrastructures, ports, industries, markets, recreational and commercial activities, on which archaeological assets and sites of community importance to be protected insist. On the territory of Campi Flegrei, 15 sites have been identified and included in the Natura 2000 network, including 2 marine reserves, with the aim of preserving the species and habitats for which the sites have been identified, ensuring longterm survival the end of these species and habitats and the protection of biodiversity, taking into consideration the economic, social and cultural needs with a view to sustainable development.
The study intends to define governance strategies common to the entire territory of Campi Flegrei, in order to guarantee the protection from the acoustic pollution of archaeological and naturalistic heritage, without precluding the tourist vocation of the area. It is possible to identify areas and paths with acoustically sustainable gradients, through the introduction of electric mobility, the regulation of recreational activities (discos, bars, pubs, tourist beaches, etc.) with measures to limit noise at the source and limitation exercise hours’.
The purpose is that of sustainable development of the territory to be achieved through the acoustic protection of its Sites of Community Importance.
