Introduzione

A metaphor is disclosed in this Matisse painting: a closed window represents something that prevent to exit but at the same time leaves the chance to be opened and thus move towards the future: i.e. in our case the transition. Therefore “time”, as Paul Valéry declares, is actually the hidden part of our perceptions, which nonetheless is revealed useful for things to be changed.
In fact lately, tired of idioms and acronyms, our society desires more than ever to be clarified about a number of concepts as media of information; as far as sustainability is concerned, it seems now impossible to find a product, an activity, an action, a policy, which is not defined “sustainable”, even though the experience teaches us to be deeply selective in terms of solutions, focusing on those which are scientifically and practically demonstrated reliable.
Even the commercial advertisements by now offer any product or service with the addition of the word “sustainable” as an adjective of quality, without always providing a certification which attests the response to LCA, to prime matter employment, to energy consumption, to water saving, and so on. What is world widely accepted and recognized as verisimilar is the fact that the anthropic habitat has been transformed along centuries in a very wild and irresponsible manner, so providing to the Planet infinite derangements and instability.
Both humans and other species of living beings have learnt how to adapt to the various changes occurred on Earth, from the day of her birth. Most of the changes were actually very strong and revolutionary, and – even if due to non-anthropic causes – produced great modifications as far as biotic and abiotic elements were concerned.
