Floating architecture is linked to the usable land’s deficiency for building structures and due to residential evolution, economic growth and transportation belongs to the most important environmental pressures on landscapes worldwide, according to climate change progress and temperature increase. The less and less usable land for residential purposes and rising sea levels treatment due to melting ice leads to the exploitation of the water surface, such as in rivers and coastal areas, in order more floating buildings around waterside be built. Furthermore, floating architecture on seaside areas has been emerging as a feasible and strong alternative residence solution. The aim of this study is to review the concept of sustainability and floating architecture, to investigate the sustainable characteristics through realized and planned floating architectures, as well as to suggest some reference materials for new building projects around waterside.
