Abstract

Climate changes and extreme environmental phenomena represent a key issue on which recent funding initiatives and research interests in Europe focus, providing mitigation and adaptation strategies. The introduction of Nature-based Solutions (NbS) and Green-Blue Infrastructures (GBI) in urban landscapes and architectures represents an effective practice to face the main challenges of the future. The contribution illustrates international research experiences and case studies, returning a framework of design solutions, technological devices, and materials for the open space. The study aims to identify innovative operating methods and to develop cognitive instruments for the technological implementation of solutions compatible with nature, supporting a renewed design approach and production sensitivity.
