Abstract

Salé medina is a remarkable coastal historical monument in Morocco. It suffers from several pathologies such as salt efflorescence, chemical alteration and physical degradation. Local climatic conditions and atmospheric agents have an impact on this monument. Among the predominant degradation factors are marine aerosols, salinity and atmospheric humidity. But wind energy is the factor that plays a central role in the dispersion of pathologies along dykes. Wind and its energy contribute to the transport of sea salts and fine particles. The kinetic energy conveyed by coastal winds has a significant effect on the microclimatic conditions affecting this monument. This research offers an analysis of the factors contributing to the degradation of historic monuments in coastal areas, with particular emphasis on the central role of energy dynamics in these complex processes. The results demonstrate a clear correlation between exposure to coastal winds and the severity of damage, highlighting the complex interplay between environmental forces and structural resilience. An integrated approach has become important to preserve this architectural heritage in the social community.
