Sustainable Mediterranean Construction
The transformation that the city of Tunis has undergone has engendered an inordinate urban sprawl, thus creating a tertiarisation of colonial buildings in the city center. It is clear that the colonial fabric, which no longer meets the needs of occupation of current modern life, is relegated to the background, causing over the years the deterioration of structures and a significant degradation of colonial buildings. Therefore, we are interested in this fabric which has seen its buildings sacrificed to the detriment of new constructions. We therefore propose to compare these two types of buildings from a thermal point of view. To do this, a mix of research techniques, combining in-situ measurements, surveys and numerical simulations, has enabled us to assess indoor thermal comfort according to its three aspects (physical, psychological and physiological). The results confirmed to us the thermal quality available to the colonial heritage.
