Abstract

The main contribution is the analysis of piezoelectric flooring, presenting the results of the work developed in the PhD in Building and Environmental Recovery (2013), as well as subsequent developments in the framework of research projects (Firb 2013), European Union initiatives (UIA 2017) and esperimental projects.
The research, focusing on the technology development of the piezoelectric floorings and its possible applications, identifies three macro-systems/families (tile, carpet and device) in relation to the layers’ composition of the paving technological subsystem, and proposes a critical analysis in terms of requirements, performance, and integration constraints.
The results of the research, presented in the contribution, identify in the piezoelectric tile the typology with enhanced characteristics in term of requirement, performance and integration capacity; and in the people flow related to spatial dimensions, the main factor for the sustainability and the application of this technology.
