There is a mood or a sensitive disposition of some cities… It is connected with histories and stories the city is telling about itself, how much it inspires or asks for a special emotional state at individual level. Some things can be demonstrated, others not… the dedicated landscape speaks to us about demonstrations, in specific words we may say that so does the cultural landscape… but at concrete, demonstrable level.
How much one place or another inspires us, the answer is connected to its state of resonance or even to the general disposition of the city. The information advertised through urban guides, commercials or even through movies, is at our disposal. Reading the information and dreaming are a first degree of perception regarding the city status; the visiting possibilities have diversified from dreaming about to the actual tangible visit by living the experience: online visiting… and even the rapid documenting (Google earth, Google map, street view, connected links), virtual tour/s as variant to online visiting, virtual environment as archaeological reconstruction of heritage (Ioan, 2013, pp.116) from the past physical-architectural city, and games experimentation with in-game digital replicas of some dedicated physical spaces (for example remakes of medieval and renaissance cities of Florence, Venice, Rome, Sienna, etc. in Assassin’s Creed). Lecturing a book that describes the city status at a certain moment, either from the point of view of some characteristics (of life, fashion) or the author’s view, for the delimitation of scenography of places, is another kind/ way of visiting.
On the other hand the inspiration of the place is dependent on the type of audience or better put the targeted public. In my doctoral thesis (Mihaila, 2011) I have presented a possible classification as elitist, money and crowd public and sub-classification of the interested audience (see Fig 1), leading to a different perception, interest and experience in the personal experimentation of space.
