Sustainable Mediterranean Construction
Linear open spaces are an opportunity for the regeneration of urban contexts, characterized by functional and environmental weaknesses. In addition to guaranteeing green spaces even in densely populated cities, they are also used as crossing and connecting elements for fragmented environments.
The present research work, starting from the critical analysis of some international case studies, identifies multifunctional linear green infrastructure systems, structured according to the role and function exercised in the environmental and settlement field, especially in relation to the provided eco-systemic services. The focus of the work, which aims at the implementation of multifunctional green infrastructure systems with high technologicalenvironmental value, can be defined as the identification of design opportunities within urban regeneration strategies with high landscape, infrastructural and bio-cultural value.
